Description of functions needed

@js22g12 It would be really handy if you could email me a breif list of descriptions of each function in AmpScan including what the parameters do. I can then format the docstrings for the documentation.

How do you want these, shall I write them in the doc strings and then you can reformat them?

That would work - there's a sample numpy docstring in the templates folder so if you feel so inclined you could look at that to give a vague idea of what would be useful. I can sort out formatting.
